PMA Students and Staff Help the People of Haiti

As of Friday, January 24, 2010 PMA Students and Staff have raised $9,900.00

It is incredible and truly shows the giving spirit at the academy. So, nice to see that people really do care about our brothers and sisters in the third world.

OLMA News - Alumni find this site and want to connect with fellow alums.

My sister & I both attended OLMA for many years of elementary school ending in 1963.

We are so excited to have found this site!

Katherine Jane Stokes and myself Ann Louise Stokes both attended OLMA and would love to see our names added to the list.. We're also hoping to see more pictures of the school, the students, the Sisters, the park across the street, our roller skating rink downstairs...even "the trunk room"!! lol We'd love to see the church in town where we used to walk with Sr.Jean on Saturdays to tend the votive candles & tiny little chores which we considered such a privilage. Wondering if anyone has pix of the street in back of OLMA where I think I remember a doll store/toy store which might actually have been inside someones house? There were many toys in the front window & we would all have wide eyes when on walks around the block. I also remember a drug store several blocks away store where we'd catch the Greyhound or Trailways bus to take us to & from Boston when we were old enough to travel alone. We were there for elementary school years till 1963. Does anyone still have year books? Where are all the school records? Did the school reopen in a new location? Is the old school still standing in Gorham and if so what occupies it now? We lost everything due to a move. I only have one pix in uniform w/the OLMA patch ....all was lost. We'd love to see pictures of all our classmates and The Sisters.....we remember Sr.Jean, Sr. St. Helaire, Sr. Rogers...

Anyone pls feel free to contact anniejpratt@comcast.net... I remember classmates....Cecilia Turconi, Yvonne and Yvette (twins!), Miriam Fialo...Rachelle Choquette, Ernestine McDonald, Suzette, Suzanne, Bernadette, Donna...so many. I hope to hear back ....I am so thrilled to see OLMA.

April 18, 2008

On April 18th, 2008 a ceremony honoring Sr. Claudette Brunelle, Assistant Principal, was held in the Alumni Hall at Presentation of Mary Academy, celebrating her 50 years of service to students.  Being a die-hard Red Sox fan, the theme of the assembly was Red Sox.  Students wore Red Sox jerseys and did performances such as the Papelbon Shuffle and sang baseball songs “Take me out to the Ball Game”.  Sister Claudette was presented with gifts from the students, parents and Alumni Association, (a lap top and printer, boom box, shopping spree, limo ride to Boston, a night stay at Copley Plaza and chocolate roses.)  The event culminated when Rico Petrocelli presented Sr. Claudette with two tickets for a July game at Fenway Park.  She was truly surprised and enjoyed the performances from all students Pre-K to Grade 8.

On May 17th at the PMA Yard Sale, the 7th and 8th grade students along with the PMA Alumni Association sponsored a car wash to raise money for air conditioning for the classrooms.  This was the first car wash ever held and the students raised $295.00.  The students did a great job and this also provided an opportunity for the alumni to work along side with the students.

June 11, 2008

The Presentation of Mary Academy 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony was held in the Chapel where 26 students received their diploma.

October 20 & 21st, 2007

The reunion was held at the Radisson on Saturday October 20th from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m.

A buffet was served and music was provided by Digital Age Djz. Those celebrating anniversaries were presented roses and pins for the number of years of graduation from the Academy. There were approximately 90 alumni at the reunion and all had a good time.

The President, Rita Deschenes, thanked everyone for their monetary donations for the air conditioners, flag pole and the God Parent Program. The flag pole will be purchased and installed as soon as possible. The air conditioner will be purchased during the month of April for installation before June of 2008. The God Parent Program is an ongoing fundraiser and the Alumni have given funds to help defer the cost of tuition for several families.

On Sunday October 21st breakfast was catered by McNulty and Foley to those who came to the Academy to continue the celebration. A program was put on by the student's of Presentation of Mary during the dedication of Alumni Hall. The students did a marvelous job and the Alumni were glad to have the opportunity to see the talent of the students from the various grade levels. Sr. Maria spoke about the fundraising and thanked the Alumni for their generous donations. She spoke about the God Parent Program and the opportunity to help parents with the cost of tuition (financial aid).

Mass was celebrated at 11:30 by Father Richard Dion from St. Louis Parish in Nashua, NH

Offerings were presented by the Class of 57'. After Mass former students visited the building and sisters.
