Presentation of Mary Alumni Association,  A.K.A. PMA/OLMA Alumni Association

BY-LAWS

 

ARTICLE I.

NAME:

The Association shall be know as PMA/OLMA Alumni Association, Hudson, NH.

ARTICLE II

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Alumni Association of Presentation of Mary Academy, Hudson, NH shall be to assist in the mission of the School as prescribed by the Presentation of Mary School Board and maintain a close relationship between Presentation of Mary Academy, its constituents and its alumni for their mutual benefit. This may be achieved through

1. The gift of time and talent of the Association members to the School for various programs benefiting the students within the goals and policies of the Board and administration of the school. These programs will be mutually determined by the alumni and the school administration.

2. The contribution of funds , individually or collectively by the Association members, for financial aid and to enable the school to successfully carry out plans to enhance curricula.

3. To assist Presentation of Mary Academy in communicating with the alumni and in maintaining a dialogue which interprets the goals and objectives of Presentation of Mary Academy

4. The Alumni will meet on a yearly basis, (third weekend in October) for camaraderie and the reminiscence. All these initiatives assume the underlying goal of instilling in alumni a long-term loyalty and dedication to the School and its programs.

ARTICLE III.

MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Grammar School:

Membership is defined as any boy or girl who attended Presentation of Mary up to and including their date of graduation for the school. (Attendance minimum 1 year). These students will become members of the Jr. Alumni Association until they graduate from high school. Once graduated they will formally become members of the PMA/OLMA Alumni Association.

Section 2. High School:

Membership is defined as any girl who attended Presentation of Mary or Our Lady of the Mountains up to and including her date of graduation from the Academy. (Minimum attendance 1 yr.)

 

Section 3: Grandfather Clause:

Due to the closing of Presentation of Mary High School in 1990, students who were unable to complete their attendance are automatically considered "graduates" of the Academy and are thereby alumni.

Our Lady of the Mountain Academy Alumni and Presentation of Mary Academy are hereby combined. This enables the two schools to reunite on a yearly basis as one entity in an effort to enhance the camaraderie and reminiscence of both schools.

ARTICLE IV

DUES

Section 1. Annual dues the Alumni Association are $15.00 per year to help pay

for expenses incurred during the year for mailings , office

supplies, website management, and other expenses that are

necessary to maintain communication between the Association

officers and alumni.

Section 2. Annual dues shall be made payable to Presentation of Mary Alumni

Association and are due on or before October 1st of each year.

ARTICLE V.

OFFICERS

Section 1. The officers of the Association shall be President, Vice President,

Secretary and Treasurer/Moderator.

Section 2. President: The President shall preside all meetings which he/she is present,

Exercise general supervision over the affairs and activities of the Association,

and serve as a member of the PMA School Board.

Vice President: The Vice-President shall assume the duties of the President

During his/her absence. The Vice President may also be a member of

the School Board in a capacity determined by the Administration of the School

and the School Board.

Section 3. Secretary: The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all meetings of the

Association, thereby providing an accurate and official record of all Association

Business. In the event that a Secretary is not available to record the minutes of

the meeting, it is the duty of the President to take minutes and post on the website.

Section 4. Treasurer/Moderator: The Treasurer/Moderator

shall receive all the association funds, keep such funds in a bank selected and pay out funds for expenses incurred and approved by the Officers of the Association.

Section 5: The President, Vice President and Secretary shall be appointed by the Moderator

of the Association. These position are volunteer and the officers will remain in

in office until such time that the person resigns.

Section 6. The Jr. Alumni Association will have a President, Vice President and Secretary

appointed and approved by the Alumni Association Officers.

ARTICLE VI.

MEETINGS

Section 1. The Annual Meeting of the Alumni Association shall be held on the third weekend

in October each year at a time and place designated by the Officers of the Association.

The Jr. Alumni Association meeting shall be held in February or at a time and place designated by the Alumni Association.

Section 2: The Officers of the Alumni Association and Jr. Alumni will meet as often as

determined by the President of the Association (no more than 12 times per year).

The President shall notify the officers of the Association of the time, place and subject matter of the meeting via phone, e-mail or other means at least 10 days before the date

of the meeting.

Section 3. The Officers of the Alumni Association will meet with the administration of Presentation Of Mary Academy to collaborate on fundraising events or other that would help with financial aid to families and to enhance curricula. These meetings will be

held at a mutually agreed upon date and time.

Section 4. The Officers of the Alumni Association will meet with current 7th and 8th grade

students of the Academy during the Month of May or a date that is mutually agreed upon by the Officers of the Alumni and the Administration, to explain the history of the Alumni Association , what the Alumni Association does to assist the Academy in its quest to provide excellence in education and how their roles as Jr. Alumni will benefit the school in the future.

ARTICLE VII.

ACADEMY APPOINTED MODERATOR

The Reverend Sister Superior of Presentation of Mary shall appoint a Moderator for the Alumni Association. Her role as Moderator shall cover such areas of spiritual advisor, and full-time Treasurer.
